Lexington Kentucky November 2013

You might think that Kentucky has nothing other than Distillery's but Lexington is the home of one of the most famous horse races The Kentucky Derby. It is also home to some of the most expensive Thorough Bred horses and Stables.

The white fences are the norm.

Yes this just a stable!!!!!!

Another money earner this is a field of tobacco, had a struggle stopping the Boss picking it.

The problem with the stables is that they are huge and most of the buildings are away from the road.

The country side is really beautiful.

"Strange Fruit" any ideas????

Close up of the fruit still on the tree.

Just Lucky catching a few of the Fall colours (U.K.) colors (U.S.).

Back to Lexington for lunch.

This is Stella's Delicatessen,

Just a few of the sandwiches on the menu.

The Hot Brown was originally made at Brown's Hotel in Lexington it is  sliced Turkey breast, Bacon and tomato covered in a creamy Pecorino cheese sauce on toast. All served hot!!!!!!
It was Greattttttt.

The boss had one of their own burgers. Again great.

A great Deli in a local neighborhood.

  2. Hi peeps!

I think the fruit is a: Maclura pomifera - also known as a horse apple or monkey ball! see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maclura_pomifera and here: http://www.offsetcarbonfootprint.org/2009/09/hedge-apples-natural-alternative-to.html :)

It seems that people use them to ward off insects! maybe Mum should have kept one in the car?

Awesome that you saw them in the flesh! xxx
