Natchez Trace Parkway 3 November 2013.

Last day on the Trace making our way to Natchez tonight.

Just a quick stop by the lake.

This is the place we've been looking forward too.

This is  a mixture of Cypress and Tupelo. This was made when the river changed it's course and left this area stranded. It is unusual as there are non swamp trees close to edge of the water.

On the road we came across Jim, who was harvesting berries.
He called them Sumack and washes and dry's them. Then uses them to make tea.

Just helping by holding down the branches while Jim picks the berries.

After all that work we felt we'd earned lunch.

Todays menu is Chicken fried Steak, Greens, Green Beans, Mashed Potato and Gravy.

Oh, my that was Goodddddd.

In need of a walk we stopped at Rocky Springs.

Nothing in it today. No door!

Well it was a nice walk in the woods an old safe and couple of grates that was Rocky Springs.

If you look you can see the Turkeys watching us, thats a novelty.

This was a Stand or boarding house, just one days walk outside Natchez.

Inside they have replicated the rooms. Unfortunately a lot of the out buildings have been demolished.

Back down the stairs and head for Natchez.
