Back on the Road

On the road from Las Vegas making our way to Socorro, New Mexico.

A view of Lake Mead.

I think we'll keep going straight on!!!!!

This store has a weird range from full size metal Giraffe to a small Dragon.

Oh and don't forget the wooden flowers. Well we are in the desert.

See you always wanted know where it was, now can you pronounce it?

Don't look now but your being followed.

This is Bosque de la Apache, which means wood or forrest of the Apache.
This is a National Wildlife Refuge, south of Socorro.
It is over 57,000 acres of which 30,00 are designated wilderness.
There is a 12 mile loop road so access is really good.

These are Sandhill Cranes that winter here, there are approx 10,000.

This is a technical term for a fence with opening flaps!!!!1

We stayed to see the birds returning to roost at sunset.

Not the most elegant of landings.

These are the Snow Geese another winter visitor.

Looks as if they are getting their heads down.

Oh well thats our way back to the motel, time for food and liquid nourishment.

So here we go trying to  catch up.

We made our way back to Las Vegas after being very lazy and very warm at Lake Havasu, but chose to take the scenic route via Oatman to Las Vegas.

This is part of the old Route 66.

Begging Boros

This is Oatman.

Lake Havasu City Arizona

We have spent a couple of weeks in Lake Havasu... one week in October and this week in November, have combined pics mainly of sunsets!

This was the weather for us in October - HOT

Aerial view of Lake Havasu.

                                    our sunset viewing seat

London Bridge, which crosses a 930 ft (280 m) long man-made canal that leads from Lake Havasu, (on the Colorado River) to Thompson Bay. It was bought for US $2.5 million from the City of London when the bridge was replaced in 1968. The bridge was disassembled, and the marked stones were shipped to Lake Havasu City and reassembled for another US $7 million. It opened in October 1971

That's a big'un.
