Hello to all our friends, family and occasional readers,
Well we are back in the US and starting our wanderings again.
We left Abilene after being met at the airport with Bonnie our car by our great friends George and Gail. To our surprise they had all the servicing and paper work completed even filled up the tank with Gas/Petrol. So we didn't have the usual run around. We were really grateful as it was well above 100 °F. - 39°C. Thursday and Friday.
Then to top it all they invited us to a real Texas BBQ. They have a great BBQ pit fully equipped with grills, smokers, a beer fridge and all the trimmings set right next to the swimming pool. The sort of thing we can only dream about + the weather to use them.
Then the crowning glory we got asked back for another night and we had the best pork ribs ever as the Americans say"PERIOD". Thank you George and Gail for everything.
So Sunday we set off from George and Gail's 10* hotel, after a truly great American breakfast and
a stock of ribs, bacon and some fabulous chocolate cake, (yes Gemma we will get the recipe so you can practice your skills what else are daughters for!!!).
We made our way on the first part of our 1073 miles journey to Las Vegas. It's only 263 miles the first day just to get to the next state, New Mexico where we changed time zones and gained an hour. We are now 7 hours behind U.K. time ?????
No pictures today but watch this space!!!!!!!!!!!
But this is the route we are taking to pick up Gemma & Greg.
From Abilene to Clovis New Mexico (NM), on to Albuquerque NM, - Holbrook Az, - Flagstaff Az, and then Las Vegas 1062 miles approx.
We are now trying to catch up on 3 weeks travelling so please be patient.
